It’s not yet known who, if anyone, will take on that role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, though “Avengers: Endgame” provided a possible direction in its closing moments. In the comics, both Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson have temporarily taken the place of Captain America. In the comic, written by Derek Landy with art by Federico Vicentini, a hit is put out on Bucky Barnes, leading him and the Falcon to race to uncover the new leader of Hydra before the group can execute a mass casualty event. In the show, according to Marvel, “following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities - and their patience - in Marvel Studios' The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” ![]() Marvel recently released a synopsis and release date for its upcoming Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which follows up on the events of "Avengers: Endgame."
